Info for Artists/Bands
Are you an indie band or artist looking for exposure? We cover Indies from the US, UK and Ireland mainly but are open to bands from anywhere. We are mainly interested in Celtic, acoustic, rock, pop, folk and alternative as genres. Lyrics are very important to us and they can’t be drowned out by the music. We are really interested in bands or solo performers who do their own music as opposed to nothing but covers of someone else’s music unless you really change the song enough to make your version vastly different. Some covers are okay and traditional songs are perfectly fine, of course. On occasion, we will feature people on a major label as long as they are either Irish or doing Celtic Music but we are fans of Indies primarily.
If you have questions you can contact us through the contact us link at the top of the page or by emailing us at this email address:
I’m using the button to give you the addy to cut down on spam because I actually already have all the Viagra and fake Rolex watches I am ever likely to need. Press releases can be sent to that email address also. Also please whitelist email coming from fanrealm.com so we don’t end up in your spam filter if we try to contact you.
We like to introduce an artist or band with a brief bio and photo (s). It doesn’t have to be a professional head shot, a candid shot of you performing is perfectly fine as long as you have the rights to the shot or permission to use it. We are into the music not invading your personal life so you can decide how much personal info you want to include in the bio beyond where you are from and the type of music you do. Those things we do want. With a band we would like the names of the members and brief history of the band — where and when it was formed etc. If you are touring or doing local gigs we can include that. People want to know where they can see you.
If you have a cd or ep we would be happy to review it. Review copies can be sent to: P O Box 28/Ferrum, VA/24088/USA This is the only official address for review copies. We do have a writer in Chicago who may have made arrangements with bands/artists to have copies sent directly to her also but if you are not in contact her, please send the cd/ep to the above address. In the review, we can link to your website, myspace, facebook or lastfm pages. We can embed a video that is hosted elsewhere and we can add a reverbnation widget and a buy now button from cdbaby so let us know if you have a page at either site. Review copies must come from the band/artist or their paid representatives only.
There is absolutely no cost to the band/artist (other than the cost of shipping us a review copy, if you do so). We want to provide a place where bands and artists can get exposure to fans looking for the kind of music they produce. The more bands/artists we cover, the more readers/fans we will attract. Our readership is always growing. We have had nearly 30,000 visits in our approx 6 months online. We started this blogzine because we couldn’t find much info about the bands we liked all collected in one place. Obviously a lot of other people felt the same way.
