A New Tradition by Peter Purvis
by JaneW on Oct.23, 2009, under Album/CD reviews, Peter Purvis
I just got my hands on this, highly acclaimed second CD by Peter Purvis. I have to say if you think you know what pipes sound like, trust me you don’t. The music on the cd will absolutely take your breath away! I have not yet decided what my favorite cut is but I will be listening to this for many hours to come just to find out.
For those who are unfamiliar with Peter, he is a musician from Canada who grew up surrounded by Celtic music and influences. On this cd he plays highland pipes, Uilleann pipes and Irish whistle all blended beautifully with more contemporary guitar, piano and drums. He is currently also a member of Gaelic Storm where he plays pipes and takes all the good natured ribbing tossed at him in stride.
This cd is on sale now as a cd or mp3 album at cdbaby
