Congratulations to Ciaran Gribbin

Ciaran Gribbin a.k.a Joe Echo has been named as the new frontman for legendary band INXS. Ciaran has been performing solo under the name Joe Echo. He was nominated for a Grammy for writing a song for Madonna and has performed with Snow Patrol.

More recently he wrote the music for the film Killing Bono which stars Ben Barnes Robert Sheehan and Martin McCann as Bono. If you haven’t seen it, as a music lover you will want to check it out.

Congratulations to Ciaran and to INXS for nabbing such a talented performer.

From The Heart 3

Seldom does an event so special come along that when it happens; the night sky lights up like a shower of stars against the darkness. From The Heart 3 at the Millennium Forum in Derry was one of those rare moments. A celebration of life fashioned out of heartache, this was certainly not a cheerless, sad concert. Rather it was filled with a huge amount of joy and laughter; the tone of the evening being set at the start by Michael Doherty’s raucous version of She Bangs. What a hoot! From Francis Black’s On Grafton Street and Niamh McGlinchey’s Seven Spanish Angels to Damian McGinty’s flawless performance of Jessie’s Girl, the evening was packed with outstanding performers and an appreciative audience. Damian’s cover of Mickey Coleman’s sorrowful Miss You More Than Words Can Say brought the evening to its successful and moving conclusion.

Currently appearing on the hit TV show, The Glee Project, Damian has matured into a charming, talented gentleman over the last four years. Fanrealm wishes him much success with Glee and his bright future.

The Underlying Flame Available Now

Oracle’s charity single The Underlying Flame is now available. This is a very special song and the proceeds are being donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. The song tells us that we are all heroes even if we don’t necessarily feel like it all the time. We may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound or part the Red Sea but we can all do something to help our fellow man. We all have talents we can put to use to help people. As as songwriter, David McClean used his talent to create a song that could help raise money and awareness for a noble cause. Sadly, most of us know someone who has been afflicted with Cancer and you can help those who help the victims of this disease by purchasing this single.

From The Heart 3 ~ Charity Concert

Fanrealm is again pleased to spotlight a most worthy charity concert – From The Heart 3. It is being staged for the third year in a row at the Millennium Forum in Derry, Northern Ireland. The inspiration for the concert was a grieving mother looking for a way to honor the memory of her much loved son.

From The Heart 3 also strives to raise awareness of the increasing number of youth senselessly lost to suicide. Eamonn Johnston was lost around this time four years ago. These concerts and those to come are certainly a fitting legacy to his memory. Don’t miss this fantastic night’s entertainment and the opportunity to support this worthy cause.

Cashier # 9, headliners for Glasgowbury 2011, will be doing a G Sessions show on
Saturday, May 21 at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown (9:00pm – May 22 at 1:00am). Also appearing are Rams’ Pocket Radio, Elspeth and Robyn G Shiels so this should be a night to remember.

Ben Glover Releases New CD

Ben Glover is a very talented singer-songwriter from Glenarm, N.Ireland. He also spends time in Nashville TN so he is more accessible to US audiences than some of the other NI acts we cover.

Paul Shevlin Announces New Single

Paul Shevlin has announced that his new single, Backfire (Set Them All Alight), is being released through Di Di Mau Records. The release date is April 18th. A launch party will be held April 14th at No Alibis. There will also be a video released for the song.

Paul was one of the many artists who took part in the Oxjam event at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown over the weekend. By all counts this event was a raging success. Paul will be performing in Scotland, London and Dublin next month. Exciting times for this artist, who is still in his teens. We wish him the best of luck with the single.

Here is it Music Friday already! Continuing our celebration of St Pat’s we will feature some contemporary Irish music for your listening pleasure. These artists cover many different genres so there is bound to be something you like here. Some of them we have covered before and some are brand new to us. Mojo Fury Set to Play G Session Saturday March 5th

Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated debut album, Visiting Hours
Of A Travelling Circus, on March 14th, Mojo Fury return to the Glasgowbury G
Sessions to celebrate.

The acclaimed four piece will play the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday
5th March.

Growing in size and prominence since they first graced the G Sessions stage
many moons ago, the lads are gearing up for the release of what is surely
one of the most anticipated debut albums of the year.

Building a profile as one of the hardest working rock acts on the local
scene Mojo Fury have risen to prominence in recent years for their hard work
ethic and quality songs to boot.

Following a number of smaller scale EP and single releases, the band will
look to forge a niche in the UK market when Visiting Hours Of A Travelling
Circus makes its way into the ears of everyone on the planet.

Already confirmed for a host of UK dates including high profile festivals,
Mojo Fury will be one of the most sought after live bands for 2011.

Catch them while you can at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown in what will also
be the last G Session until May.

Support comes a duo of three pieces in the shape of heavy punk maestros Axis
Of and up-and-coming Derry rockers Intermission, fronted by ex-Kharma 45′s
Glenn Rosborough.

Doors are at 9pm and admission is £5.
