The Kreellers

Great Traditional Celtic Music

by JaneW on Jan.08, 2010, under Band Info, Hair of the Dog, O' Malley's March, The Kreellers

I’ve gathered up info on some of our favorite Celtic Music bands. Most of them are very well known but just in case you missed them I will post a bit on each one and links where you can find out more. These are certainly not all of our favorites. This is just a sampling in random order. You can get gig info on their myspace pages and/or websites so if they are appearing near you go and see them.

Hair of the Dog This band has been together since 1993 and do a blend of Celtic folk and rock. They are very high energy and add their own take on many traditional favorites. The band is based in upstate New York but have played concerts and clubs in most major cities and some of the biggest festivals. They have several cds out. All are available at cdbaby

Hair of the Dog: Donegal
Hair of the Dog: Let It Flow
Hair Of The Dog: Release The Hounds
Hair of the Dog: At the Parting Glass

The Kreellers This is a band from Detroit, Michigan. This another Celtic Folk and Rock blend. The are high energy and put their own twist on traditional favorites like The Orange and the Green and their version of Galway Races is my all time favorite. Their cd Sixth and Porter is also available at cdbaby.

O’Malley’s March This is a great band from Baltimore MD. They do a great mix of traditional and original music in the same Celtic folk rock vein as the other bands in this post.

We have lots more Celtic Bands we want to cover. Some of them are already on the todo lists of some of our staff members who live in the local areas where these bands play. We hope to have gig and cd reviews for these and other bands in the near future.
