Alka Jessie is a band from Kilkenny, Ireland. You’d have to say they were a band in a hurry. They just formed in the summer of 2010 and they released their debut EP on August 16th. You would think a band with 2 guitar players and a bass player would have a heavy guitar sound and you’d be right. I happen to love the sound of the guitar, especially very well played guitar, and that is what Alka Jessie excels at. Of the three songs on this album the title song Take It Slow is probably the strongest but they are all quite good and the guitar work is fabulous. Theirs is a kind of bluesie, jazzy sound that draws the listener in from the first note.
The band is actually giving digital copies of this album away to introduce themselves and their sound.
